01 NEW, SITE VISITS & PROGRESS

PROJECT PROGRESS OCTOBER

As ever it’s been a busy month for us here at JCAD with numerous planning and building regulations application submitted along with a number of Architectural draft designs prepared.

However, whilst we are generally not appointed to monitor building works on site we don’t feel that our involvement is finished there and we are often on hand to offer advise to builders or our clients all the time. Even if we don’t hear anything from site we still like to keep track of our projects once our direct involvement is over and work hard to visit as many sites as possible numerous times throughout their build. With anything from just two or three projects on site to over ten at any one time however I’m sure you can imagine this can sometimes be trickier than you’d think!

SO WHERE HAVE WE BEEN THIS MONTH?

ASHGATE AVENUE – House Extension in Brampton, Chesterfield

First up is Ashgate Avenue in Chesterfield. As you can see from the photographs below the build here is almost complete and our clients are due to move back in this very weekend!

Constructing a Two Storey Extension to the side and rear together with a single storey rear extension can be a very tricky build to detail and construct, in this particular instance there are steel beams running in many directions with complex junctions but the end results look great.

The Build here has been carried out y S & P  Hewitt Construction Ltd http://www.sphconstruction.co.uk/ / 01246 557890.

CHATSWORTH ROAD – House Extension in Brampton, Chesterfield

Next up is an extension that many of you maybe see on a regular basis, situated on the corner of Chatsworth Road and Haddon Close it’s very prominent on Chatsworth Road (Not least for all of the banners that the builders, roofers, scaffolders and everyone else have put up) and whilst progress has possibly seemed slow at times the works are now nearing completion. As you can see from the photo’s below the roof is now on, windows and doors are all in and works are coming to a conclusion in side.

We’re told that the Rendering will be completed next week allowing the White film to be removed from the Dark Grey Aluminium Windows and Doors and scaffold dropped to reveal a contemporary addition to this semi detached home.

The build here has been carried out by Bear Construction Ltd – 07783641466

DERBY ROAD – House Extension in Wingerworth, Chesterfield

Another extension that many of you have maybe noticed is this extremely large extension to the side and rear of this semi-detached property on Derby Road. Here the client is undertaking the works himself, acting as project manager and employing his own team of brick layers and general builders / joiners.

Once complete the extension will form a large two storey side extension together with huge open plan living arrangement to the rear. The walls will predominantly be finished with smooth White Render with some feature brickwork to the front and timber cladding to the rear. The contemporary look will be completed with the addition of a large double height wall of glass in the front gable which we think will look fantastic once completed.

WESTBROOK DRIVE – House Extension in Somersall, Chesterfield

An extension that’s a little less prominent is this generous two storey extension to the side of what was a three / four bedroom semi detached family home on the end of a small residential side street in Somersall, Chesterfield.

As you can see from the photographs the works again are nearing completion, with the main roof complete and from an external point of view at least, all that remains is to form the small lean too roof over the rear extension.

We’re hoping that all the works are finished inside and out here in the next month to six weeks so our clients can really enjoy their new home in time for Christmas

Works here are being carried out by C & N Builders – 07763055799

HAZEL DRIVE – House Extension in Walton, Chesterfield

Here we have a smaller extension which is again being built by S & P Hewitt. Works only started here maybe four weeks ago and as you can see, they’ve moved quickly here with the shell almost complete on this single storey extension to the back of this semi detached home in Walton.

The extension will form a large open plan living kitchen once complete with the introduction of three rooflights in the ceiling adjacent the Bi-folding doors the home will look fantastic from the inside once completed.

As you can see we’ve been busy this month but we still managed to squeeze one more site visit in, this time in Sheffield.

NEWFIELD LANE – House Extension, Triple Garage with Office Over and Orangerie in Dore, Sheffield

As you can see from the photographs works on the outer shell are nearing completion with phase I completed late last year to form the detached triple garage with office over the rest of the building works to form a large glazed screen linking the garage with the extension are progressing well and the Orangerie to the rear is starting to take shape.

Works are again being carried out by C & N Builders.

MEANWHILE BACK AT THE OFFICE

In addition to works on site we’ve had a productive month in the offices as well, with Planning approvals received for a number of house extensions in Sheffield and Chesterfield and numerous construction packages issued ready for works to start on site in Totley in Sheffield, Temple Normanton in Chesterfield and Bolsover we’re sure we’ll be busy trying to fit all the extra visits in shortly!

 TEASER ALERT

We’re also excite about a large community facility in the heart of Chesterfield that we’ve been working on in collaboratively with Brightman Architects in Sheffield ( http://www.brightmanarchitects.co.uk ), due to current confidentiality we are unable to  release any information about this at the moment but are hopeful that we’ll be able to release more information (and some sneak peak designs) in the next month.
