PROJECT PROGRESS NOVEMBER
A Busy month again here at JCAD, with no signs of the usual seasonal slowdown as we approach the run up to Christmas. As ever we’ve been busy submitting planning and building regulations applications and preparing sketch designs for our newer clients in Chesterfield, Sheffield and further afield in the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire Region.
We’ve also been busy preparing site layouts and planning applications for a number of small housing developments for our clients Poplar Farm Developments with a new Outline Application submitted to North East Derbyshire District Council for 11 new homes to be built in the South of Chesterfield which we’ll hopefully see on site Summer 2016.
Now that the boring office update is out of the way, how are things looking on site? Well as ever, despite being really busy in the office we’ve made every effort to call in on a number of our projects in
SO WHERE HAVE WE BEEN THIS MONTH?
DERBY ROAD – House Extension in Wingerworth, Chesterfield
Works have progressed well on site here in the last month by our client, who is acting as project manager and employing his own team of brick layers, general builders and joiners to undertake what is a collosal house extension to the front, side and rear of this semi-detached property on Derby Road, Chesterfield.
Since our last site visit the extension walls to the front feature gable have been built up to eaves level and the roof trusses are due for delivery in the next week or so. However it’s to the back of the property where the project is really taking shape. Now that the main single storey extension roof timbers are in place we get a feel for the true form of this extension and what will be an incredible, open and spacious rear family living kitchen.
HOUSING DEVELOPMENT ON LOCKO ROAD, LOWER PILSLEY (Near Chesterfield)

Shortly before the completion of our hugely successful housing development Poplar Grove, Lower Pilsley at the beginning of 2015 Works began on this second housing development on Locko Road, Lower Pilsley in Chesterfield.
Again built by our client, a family run property development company “Poplar Farm Developments ltd” this site is being developed to create Seven new luxury family homes, with the first three already bought and the owners moved in.
As you can see from the photographs, as we approach the ned of the year we also approach the end of this project, with the final two plots almost water tight and the first five properties now all but completed.

As you can see from the photographs works on the outer shell are nearing completion with phase I completed late last year to form the detached triple garage with office over the rest of the building.
The glazed link is now fully installed after an earlier mistake from the galzing company and the frontage is now looking great.
Works to the back are nearing completion to, with the feature vaulted rooflight sitting within the roof space and the scaffold now down to reveal the overall appearance of the Orangerie extension.
We’re hoping to call back here again before Christmas when much of the internal finishes will have been completed in the extension.

Another project which is almost there, externally at least, is this traditional two storey extension to the side of a family semi detached home in Somersall, Chesterfield.
As you can see from the photographs the main external works are almost complete with some minor works to the rear projecting single storey roof still required.
Internally the first fix electrical and heating system has now been installed and the builders are currently applying plasterboard ready for a team of plasterers. Whilst it still looks like a building site at the moment we’re really looking forwards to seeing the build complete in time for our clients to enjoy their first Christmas in their new living kitchen area.

This extensive first floor extension and loft conversion is beginning to near completion with the majority of external construction works almost done the render finish is due to be applied later this week (weather dependant) whilt internally there is still a lot of work to do but the end is insight with many of the rooms plastered out, painted and internal doors fitted.
One of our favourite aspects of this design is the new central stair core upto the landing and the amount of light that floods in through the feature glazing panel and rooflights.

It’s finally unveiled! Now that the rendering has been carried out the scaffold has been removed and the films taken off the new windows to reveal a modern, contemporary influenced extension to the side of a fairly standard semi detached home on this prominent location on the corner of Chatsworth Road and Haddon Close.
There are still a few snags to be completed on site, the guttering and verge to the small lean too roof need to be completed and the rain water pipe from the two storey extension above needs to adapted to discharge onto this roof thereafter.
Hopefully you’ll all agree that the transformation on this property has been truly staggering.

This is our first visit to site since works began on this modest single storey extension to the back of this terraced house on Peveril Road in Sheffield.
Whilst the extension itself may look small it has allowed us to open up the space in the rear offshort to create a larger living kitchen facing out onto the back garden space.

S&P Hewitt have now completed work on the single storey extension we visited last month on Hazel Drive and have begun work extending this detached family home on Coppice Close, Chesterfield.
The works may not look that significant from the front (mainly because the porch hasn’t been formed yet) but to the rear you can really see the single storey rear aspect of the build taking shape.
Once completed the house will become a four bedroom detached home (with new master bedroom and En-suite formed in the extension) complete with a large open plan living kitchen at ground floor level. Sadly our clients won’t be enjoying their Christmas dinner this year in a beautiful and completed new extension but the works should be completed early in the new year.

Not quite a current project, we last visited Repton Place, Dronfield a year ago when the build had first been completed but the landscaping works were in full swing. We thought that whilst we were passing we’d pop in to see how the space looks now the rear garden has been landscaped.
The works here (as can be seen in the before and after photographs) comprised of a first floor extension over the existing garage to create a new master bedroom with separate dressing room and En-Suite, together with forming a more attractive pitched roof over the existing flat roofed sun lounge to the rear as well as covering the dated stone and timber clad feature panels with crisp White Render panels to modernise the overall appearance and character of the home.
AWAY FROM THE SITE AND ON THE BOARDS
In addition to works on site we’ve had another productive month in the office too with Planning approvals received for a number of house extensions in Sheffield and Chesterfield and numerous construction packages issued ready for works to start on site in Totley – Sheffield, Walton – Chesterfield and Barlborough amongst the many projects we’re sure to be visiting early into the new year.
